NFL Week 4 Three Team Parlay

This weeks NFL three team parlay is sponsored by Amazon Prime. If you're not watching Amazon Prime video already, you can click here to check it out for 30 days for free.

Here are the night game match ups this week and my picks

TNF - Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams (-7). The Vikings got embarrassed last week by one of the worst teams in the league, the Buffalo Bills. They will be anxious to get that taste out of their mouth as soon as possible, so this game coming on a Thursday night is perfect for them. The Rams have injury problems in the defensive secondary, and will have 3 rookies on the field when in "nickle" coverage. This is a bad thing to have happen during a short week. Minnesota may not have enough to win, but should keep it close. Take the Vikings+7.

SNF- Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3). Pittsburgh had an impressive first half last Monday against Tampa Bay, then held on in the  second half to win. Since the start of last year, the Steelers are just 2-5 ATS against division opponents. I think that trend continues here, as the Ravens defense will do a much better job this week than Tampa Bay did in the first half last week. Take the Ravens +3.

MNF - Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos (+4.5). I've kind of painted myself into a corner with my first two picks.  I'm now forced to either pick three road teams or three underdogs, neither of which seems very appealing, at least not for a 3-team parlay.

Kansas City is one of only three remaining undefeated teams, and this Monday they're favored on the road in Denver. I'm finding it tough to get a handle on this game, as recent ATS trends aren't convincing, one way or another. My knee-jerk reaction is to not bet against Denver at home on a primetime game. However, Kansas City is really looking good this year. I think 2nd year quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a huge upgrade from Alex Smith, at least that's how he's been playing up until now. Still, it's his first career start in Denver.  Hmmmm.......

When in doubt, take the points. Denver + 4.5.

Good luck everybody.

What's the surveillance room like? Repost

This is a repost of a post I made about a year ago, but I feel like it bares s repeating. Enjoy. I got another good question last week, from a reader wanting to know what a surveillance room is like, how it is laid out and how it is staffed and run.  So here goes. I have worked in surveillance departments at six different casinos in the last 25 years. Some very small (300 slots, 6 blackjack tables) and some very big (3000 slots, 60-70 table games of all kinds). When I started in the early 90's it was all VCRs and not all cameras were recorded all the time. We used a lot of "multi-plexers" and "quad screens". A multi-plexer used one VCR to display and record up to 16 screens on one monitor. Since the VCR still records at 30 frames per second, that meant that if you did a review on any one of those 16 screens you would be looking at a "freeze frame" effect, where you only got 1.8 frames per second of the shot you were looking at. A quad would record ...

Some off you  might even invest in individual stocks or a mutual fund in a private brokerage account.  So let me ask you what you would do if you got a hot tip from a friend about a tech stock, a "highly volatile" tech stock, that was poised to go through the roof. Maybe they're about to release a new app, and there are rumors that Google is going to buy them out. Maybe you've squirreled away some "mad money...

Reader question.

OK well, I'm back to posting after about a 6 month. I absence. Sorry I was in and out of the hospital with a bunch of problems, but I'm all better now So i noticed that during my abs. Since I got a few questions from readers, I would like to answer one of them now. So the question is, how much money should you take with you to the casino? the answer is of course, if depends. If you happen to be one of the lucky people who live in a jurisdiction where legalize cambling is allowed. And it's a place that you go to to have fun or relax, Or just have some excitement in your life, then that will be a different amount that you will want to take with you as opposed to someone who is making a trip to Vegas that they make only once a year. And if you live Nevada, like I do and you go into casinos all the time, then that will be a different answer as well. As a general rule of thumb. I don't walk into a casino. Unless I have a $100 that I am willing to lose. If you don...
